Anna Mani was born on August 23, 1918 in Peermade Village of Kerala. She was a meteorologist and physicist by profession. Anna mani is one of the most renowned female researchers of the country. Her contribution in the meteorological department has made it easier for the country to be precise about the weather. From the year 1942 to 1945, Anna Mani distributed almost five papers and completed her Ph.D thesis along with starting the alumni program at Imperial College in London. At this college, she gained practical experience about meteorological instrumentation.

After that when she recisited India in 1948, she started working for the meteorological department. At the department, Anna Mani helped the country in making up a plan and produced the weather condition instruments of its own. By the year 1953, she topped her division and became the first woman to succeed so far in this male dominating field. Around more than 100 weather condition instrument plans were improved under her guidance.
In the 1950s, Mani laid out an organization and checked stations of sun oriented radiations. She also distributed numerous papers on economical energy estimation. She also became the Deputy Director General of Indian Meteorological Department and went further to stand firm at the United Nations World Meteorological Organization. After being retired, Mani delegated as the trustee of Raman Research Institute in Bangalore.

She was influenced to such a level that she started wearing khadi clothes only. She belonged from a family where a girl was only born and brought up to be married whereas the boys are free to live up to their dreams and go along with their profession limitless. She read all of the Malayalam books available at her public library by the age of eight and read all the English books available there by the age of twelve.
