Note: Exam dates for other posts will be released later. Exam city and travel pass for SC/ST candidates will be available on the website ten days before the exam. RRB Admit cards will also be uploaded on the website four days before.
RRB Examination Pattern
For ALP and Technician posts: Preliminary Computer Based Test (CBT 1), which will have questions from technical knowledge, mathematics, general knowledge and reasoning.
For JE posts: There will be questions based on general knowledge, technical ability and reasoning.
RPF SI: Here too there will be a CBT format, but there will be more focus on reasoning and general awareness.
To make the exam difficult, the railways have added more subjects this time, so that no one can pass “just by luck”.
RRB Exam Syllabus
- ALP/Technician: General knowledge, technical subjects, basic mathematics and reasoning.

Nature of the Job
Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP): Helps in train operations; you have to ensure the speed, direction and safety of trains.
- RPF Sub Inspector (SI): Safety of railway property and passengers.
- Technician: Technical work like maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Junior Engineer (JE): Engineering related work, inspection and improvement of projects.

Eligibility Criteria
1. Age Limit:
ALP and Technician | 18 to 30 years |
RPF SI | 20 to 30 years |
JE | 18 to 33 years |
There is relaxation in the upper age limit for some categories. Relaxation is also a special feature in government jobs, which is changed from time to time.
2. Educational Qualification:
ALP and Technician | 10th pass and ITI certificate |
RPF SI | Graduation from any recognized university |
JE | Diploma or degree in engineering |
3. Category Relaxation:
Candidates from Scheduled Caste/Tribe (SC/ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) will get relaxation in upper age. There is also special relaxation for women and disabled candidates.

- Visit the official website of RRB.
- Find the admit card link and click on it.
- Enter the registration number and date of birth.
- Confirm the details and download and take a print for future.
Things to note before the exam
Aadhaar Linked Biometric Verification: Your biometric authentication will be done before entering the examination hall. Entry will not be allowed without original Aadhar card.
- Travel pass for SC/ST candidates: Download the travel pass ten days before the exam.
- Documents required: Identity card, exam admit card and a photo.
