Pablo, also known as Pablito, was born in Cuba on 24 February 1943. He was a profound songwriter, guitarist, and singer. In 1950 he moved to Havana with his family where he studied at Conservatorio Municipal de La Habana, which was a prestigious musical school at that time. He was a great singer and Cuban guitar player and also the founder of Cuban nueva trova. His first original song record was the eponymous “Pablo Milanés” which was issued in 1976.

He supported the Cuban revolution & he also took some official positions in the Cuban regime but allegedly avoided participating in pro-government campaigns. He was sent to the Castro regime’s forced labor camps known as Military Units of Production Aid (UMAP) in the mid-1960s. He was living with his wife Nancy Perez and two sons. He also got treatment in 2014 for kidney failure.  He died on 22 November 2022.
